Master of Engineering Management (MEM) students visit Nanjing Quality Inspection Institute (NQI)

On the afternoon of 29th October 2024, led by Prof. Zhou Yuejin, Executive Director of the Master of Engineering Management Education Centre of Nanjing University, some of the students of our MEM program visited Nanjing Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute (Nanjing Quality Development and Advanced Technology Application Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as ‘NQI’). Zhou Jungui, President of NQI and industry tutor of professional degree master's degree students, together with Chen Yanping and Liang Qi, Vice Presidents of NQI, Gu Jianhua, Chief Engineer of NQI, as well as the directors of each testing center and relevant department heads, warmly welcomed the arrival of the students.

Under the leadership of President Zhou Jungui and other leaders of the institute, the students visited the National Software Product Quality Inspection and Testing Centre (Jiangsu), the National Smart Grid Application Product Quality Inspection and Testing Centre (Jiangsu), Nanjing CITIC Adaptive Protection Centre and Nanjing ‘Quality Station’ respectively, and had a visual understanding of the testing environment, testing process, instruments and equipment of CITIC products, EMC, environment, reliability, safety, audio and video laboratories. They had an intuitive understanding of CCTF products, EMC, environment, reliability, safety, audio/video and other labs' testing environment, testing process and equipment.

After the visit, the two sides had a discussion and exchange with the theme of ‘software, power grid, intelligent manufacturing and software-hardware integration construction and other aspects of industry pain points and needs. NJQSIQ showed the typical cases of ‘Quality Station’ to serve the development of software, smart grid and other industrial chains, and introduced the work of software testing technology, Xinchuang service, classified certification business, standardization and intellectual property rights services, testing services for smart grid application products as well as the construction of software-hardware integration. problems encountered in their work, pain points in the industry and external cooperation needs, and carried out in-depth discussions and exchanges.

Su Wenjie from Quanfeng Technology Co., Ltd, Miao Haigang from Ford Automotive Engineering Research Institute, Chen Sidi from Military Representative Office, Tian Hengchuan from Nanjing Yunxinda Technology Co., Ltd, and Cai Qiancheng from Jiangsu Power Transmission Co., Ltd. respectively, raised questions and demands on export product certification, international standard transformation of leakage testing of automotive parts and components, the difficulties and confusions of EMC testing of military equipment, the types of database Ltd. and Cai Qiancheng, respectively, on export product certification, conversion of international standards for leakage testing of automotive parts, difficulties and perplexities of electromagnetic compatibility testing of military equipment, dilemmas of database types and nested multi-layers, and standard basis of product testing and certification in the bidding process of the State Grid; at the same time, they also shared their knowledge and views on the integration of software and hardwares in the intelligent manufacturing, and put forward a lot of valuable suggestions and opinions.


This MEM mobile classroom practical teaching activities not only deepened MEM students' understanding of software, testing, certification, standard services and intellectual property rights of smart grid application products, but also expanded their vision and thinking in the “14th Five-Year Plan and 2035 Vision Outline” to continuously promote the construction of a strong manufacturing country and a strong quality country.
